The Challenge

FinFlow is a B2B fintech platform that helps businesses manage their cash flow, invoicing, and financial forecasting. Despite having powerful features, their existing dashboard was overwhelming users with too much data and too little clarity.

Key problems we identified:

  • Information overload with 40+ metrics on a single screen
  • No clear visual hierarchy—everything looked equally important
  • Users couldn't find the data they needed quickly
  • Mobile experience was essentially unusable

The Approach

We started with extensive user research, interviewing 15 current customers and analyzing thousands of session recordings to understand how people actually used the dashboard.

Our findings revealed that 80% of users only cared about 5 key metrics on a daily basis. The rest was important but rarely needed. This insight drove our entire design strategy.

The Solution

We designed a modular dashboard system that adapts to each user's needs:

  • Smart Defaults: Show the 5 most important metrics prominently
  • Customizable Widgets: Let users add/remove/rearrange data cards
  • Progressive Disclosure: Detailed data available on click, not by default
  • Mobile-First: Fully responsive with a dedicated mobile experience
